The breeding season is in full swing here in Panama, with a lot of birds currently sitting on eggs. This Rufous-tailed Hummingbird has constructed a nest from plant fibres and cobwebs, and is currently incubating two tiny eggs. Within two weeks the eggs will hatch and just three weeks later, with luck, the young will fledge. The chicks will not be fully independent for a further two months, within which the female adult alone will continue to feed them.
