Panama’s Western highlands offer more than just a cooler climate and spectacular scenery. Around 60% of the Panama’s bird species have been recorded here with many not found elsewhere in the country. Several charismatic species such as the Resplendent Quetzal and the Bare-necked Umbrellabird have become synonymous with the region, but there is a large and varied avian community waiting to be discovered in this beautiful corner of Panama (see Slideshow).
